Are you interested in playing guitar with others? The VCGS Guitar Ensemble, directed by one of Canada’s finest classical guitarists Michael Kolk, is set to launch our next session Sunday, February 9th. We meet for seven rehearsals culminating in a concert May 4th.
There are a limited number of spaces for new members.
The 5th Vancouver Classical Guitar Festival, presented in collaboration with the VCGS and sponsored by Capilano University, is designed as an intensive learning experience in the beautiful setting of Capilano University in North Vancouver. VCGFest is a unique opportunity for guitarists of all levels to participate in masterclasses, workshops, guitar orchestra, a participants’ concert and to be inspired by faculty concerts by Iliana Matos, Dr. Jeffrey McFadden, Dr. Daniel Ramjattan and Luis Angel Medina.
The 3rd Okanagan Guitar Festival, presented in collaboration with the VCGS , is a unique opportunity for guitarists and music lovers to immerse themselves in four days of concerts, masterclasses and workshops in Kelowna. This year’s faculty includes Daniel Bolshoy, Iliana Matos, Alec Pearson, Philip Hansen and the Western Canadian Quartet.
You’re invited to our Annual General Meeting on Sunday, May 5th, at 4:00 pm at the Vancouver Academy of Music, 1270 Chestnut Street, Vancouver (room to be announced). The meeting will be in-person and online via Google Meets. Click the VCGS logo for more information.
Students from UBC will perform for VCGS artist Dale Kavanagh. This event is open to the public for free auditing. A few spots remain for non-UBC students to register. Email outreach@vancouverguitar.org for more information.
The VCGFest Social is an occasional online gathering where guitar enthusiasts can hang out, share their passion, and stay connected with the guitar community! If you’d like to join, you are more than welcome to play whatever music you have been working on or you can just listen and join the chit-chat. The event is hosted by VCGFest Director Luis Medina.

The second annual Okanagan Guitar Festival is a unique opportunity for guitarists and music lovers to immerse themselves in 4 days of concerts, master classes and workshops from July 6th-9th. The festival includes three outstanding classical guitar concerts headlined by festival faculty artists Daniel Bolshoy and Luis Angel Medina, Alec Pearson and harpist Vivian Chen, Kelowna’s own Alan Rinehart and flutist Christine Moore, Galina Jitlina with a youth ensemble, and Louise Southwood.
Come out and support our celebration of young talent at our Summer Student Open Stage. You’ll see more than 20 guitar students ranging in age from 5 - 16 years. Many of them are winners of local Kiwanis and VAYA Music Festivals.
