This event is open to all classical guitar enthusiasts, but seats are limited - please purchase a free admission ticket. Seating priorities will be given to participants with admission tickets.
Join us for an afternoon of music, learning, and camaraderie at the Vancouver Classical Guitar Society's monthly social! This month, we’ll be gathering at the Burnaby Public Library near Metrotown, with a special guest workshop led by our own Luis Angel Medina.
Luis Angel Medina, recently appointed as a guitar instructor at Capilano University, brings over 13 years of teaching experience to our community. His students regularly achieve top honors in local competitions and have earned prestigious Provincial Gold Medals through the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) certificate program. Luis also founded the Vancouver Classic Guitar Festival, now celebrating five successful years—stay tuned for next summer's edition!
With a strong background in performance, Luis served as a Teacher Assistant during his Master's in Guitar Performance at the University of Georgia, teaching and supporting guitar majors. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree at the University of Toronto, focusing on the works of Mexican composer Julio Cesar Oliva. Beyond his studies, Luis is an active performer and serves as Director of Operations for the Toronto Guitar Society.
Don't miss this chance to learn from an accomplished guitarist, connect with fellow enthusiasts, and enjoy the vibrant VCGS community.
