VCGS and UBCSoM collaboration:
Emma Rush discusses the lives and works of rarely heard composers from the 19th century including Emilia Giuliani Guglielmi, Catharina Pratten, Julia Piston, and Delores de Goñi. Among these women were virtuosic concert performers, savvy entrepreneurs, world travelling adventurers, and teachers of royalty. This presentation is a fascinating look at a vibrant but overlooked piece of guitar history.
This event will be livestreamed. We will have a group of people meeting at the Canadian Music Centre to watch via projector following our ensemble rehearsal. We’d love to have you join us there.
