The Vancouver Classical Guitar Festival (VCGFest) is a week-long series of workshops with high level and world-leading experts where you will be able to explore skills that are not delved into during lessons or the course of guitar studies, such as learning music effectively, practicing effectively, problem solving, technique, and playing in an ensemble. From the beginner who just learned how to read notes, to the aspiring professional who is diving deeper into the music, this week is designed to get everyone together to share a unifying experience of playing the guitar.

Due to unpredictability and health concerns over COVID-19, this year’s VCGFest will keep its format to a week-long series of online guitar MASTERCLASSES, WORKSHOPS and CONCERTS! The faculty this year is comprised of Ben Verdery, Dr. Daniel Bolshoy, Dr. Brent Crawford, Alec Pearson, Lucida Zhao and Luis Angel Medina.

The Second VCGFest will take place between July 19-24. All events will take place in the afternoon and evening to accommodate for working professionals and students.

Directing the festival is Luis Angel Medina, an avid performer and teacher across North America. He is the recipient of the Silver Medal from the 2017 Vancouver International Music Competition and holds a Masters degree from the University of Georgia in Athens. Luis’s career has taken him to perform in various cities in Europe, China and all over North America.
