We wish to inform you that due to an acute illness, Sharon Isbin (guitar) is sadly unable to perform this evening. We wish Sharon a speedy recovery.
While we, like you, are disappointed about this, we are thrilled to say that the world’s preeminent sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan has arrived safely in Vancouver along with his gifted sons Amaan and Ayaan Ali Bangash, and they will all perform this evening. They are joined on tabla by two prominent disciples of Ustad Zakir Hussain – Amit Kavthekar and Aditya Kalyanpur – who bring their propulsive drumming to the evening. We look forward to what will be an amazing show.
In the event that you foresee the change in lineup being an impediment to your enjoyment of the evening (which we hope is not the case), and if you would like a refund for your ticket purchase please contact the Chan Centre’s box office at tickets@tickets.ubc.ca

Amjad Ali Khan is the undisputed master of the sarod, and one of India’s most celebrated classical musicians. His ancestors developed and shaped the beautiful nineteen stringed instrument, and his richly talented sons Amaan and Ayaan Ali Bangash are the seventh generation of the family to play it. Together their 57 strings can whisper, wail and thunder through centuries of musical repertoire, from classical compositions to folk songs and jazzy improvisations. The Khans perform regularly at the Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Kennedy Center, Mozart Hall and the Sydney Opera House. We are delighted to welcome them to the Chan Centre for this special concert at Indian Summer Festival.
