About the event:
Described as “one of the most engaging artists of the guitar nowadays” (Ricardo Iznaola), Carlo Fierens will be playing music composed by Niccolò Paganini, the legendary Italian violinist who cherished and wrote for the guitar. The programme will also feature music inspired by Paganini, including compositions by the Romantic guitar prodigy Giulio Regondi, a pastiche written by the 20th-century composer Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco and Kevin Callahan’s contemporary “Red Fantasy,” whose sparkling brilliancy directly recalls the essence of Romantic music. The harmonious sounds of the classical guitar will guide us through a concert dense with various and contrasting emotions, much in the spirit of the musician who got be known as “The Devil’s Violinist.”
