About the work: Elements of Grace is a suite of 12 black and white photo-etchings in which I have juxtaposed diagrams from the first English translation (1729) of Isaac Newton’s Principia Mathematica with photo-details of the human form. Although the two types of images are very different in subject matter and graphic character, when they are brought together as etchings on the same page, a ‘dialectic’ of sorts occurs between them, both formally and metaphorically. The titles are phrases drawn from the text of Principia associated with each diagram.
