Flutist Bernard Blary and Classical Guitarist Alec Pearson will perform a concert of twentieth century duets and solo pieces by Bozza, Piazzolla, Moyse, Castelnuovo-Tedesco, and an original composition by Mr. Pearson. The musicians have performed together since 2005, and their long friendship and history playing together has produced a well-connected musical duet.
Bernard Blary
Bernard Blary began his musical studies at the age of four, studying piano. At the age of eleven, he began his study of the flute with Marian Žekulin and Maureen Bennie until finally studying under Philippa Fitzgerald-Finch at the University of Calgary. Bernard has been a member and a featured soloist with a variety of orchestras and chamber groups and has performed concerts in the United States, Canada, Europe and South America.
Alec Pearson
Alec Pearson enjoys a career based in Vancouver where he currently serves as a sessional instructor of guitar at the University of British Columbia. Alec has performed both solo and in ensemble across Canada, Spain, Colombia, Greece and the U.S. He currently serves as president of the “Vancouver Classic Guitar Society” where he works to organize concerts, lectures masterclasses and social events. Alec holds the degree “Máster en Interpretación de Guitarra Clasica” from the Universitat d’Alacant in Alicante, Spain, where he studied with an array of the best guitarists in the world.
