Super-talented, multi-award winning guitarist Lovro Peretić opens VCGS 2023-24 concert season
The Vancouver Classic Guitar Society opens its 2023-24 concert series with the super talented, multi-award winning classical guitarist Lovro Peretić on Friday, September 22nd at Pyatt Hall. The 2022 Guitar Foundation of America winner Lovro Peretić is from Zagreb, Croatia. Now just 28, Lovro has won an incredible 30 plus first prizes in the world’s most prestigious international guitar competitions, including the International Concert Artist competition of GFA, the Eurostrings guitar competition, and the Andres Segovia guitar competition.
Lovro is regarded as one of the leading young guitarists worldwide. He tours extensively in Croatia, Europe and around the world, gives masterclasses and regularly performs as a soloist, with symphonies and in chamber music groups including with his duo with violinist Katarina Kutnar and guitar trio Evocación. Lovro has just released a new solo album on the Naxos Laureate series featuring works from Barrios, Brahms, Scarlatti, Debussy and more.
Lovro started studying guitar at a young age in Pavao Markovac music school then graduated with distinction at the Music Academy in Zagreb in the class of Darko Petrinjak. He went on to study at L’École Supérieure Musique et Danse Hauts-de-France in Lille, France. Lovro says he has greatly benefited from numerous masterclasses with musicians and scholars such as Zoran Dukic, Marcin Dylla, Lorenzo Micheli, Ana Vidović, Paolo Pegoraro and Łukasz Kuropaczewski to name a few.
He has performed and given masterclasses in many prestigious guitar festivals and music concert series, including the Paris International Guitar Festival, Music Festival “Vladimir Spivakov” in Moscow, Zagreb Guitar Festival, Antwerp International Guitar Festival and many more. Lovro Peretić is currently based in Geneva, Switzerland) where he is doing his postgraduate studies with Judicaël Perroy at the Haute Ecole de Musique Genève.
